The bachelor thesis "The use of Virtual Reality in water training simulations" explores how Virtual Reality (VR) technologies can be used in water training simulations. The thesis aims to investigate VR development hardware and software, and to develop an experimental prototype VR training solution to provide virtual immersive simulations for complex system exploration, process testing and user training. The theoretical basis of the work consists of a review of VR theoretical principles, applications and development trends, as well as an exploration of VR hardware solutions and software tools. In the empirical part, an experimental prototype of a VR training solution based on the Valmiera drinking water treatment plant is developed. The training solution provides the possibility to execute a training scenario by interacting with different equipment specific to the water sector. The results could provide insights into the possibilities and possible applications of VR technology in water sector training simulation solutions.
